The increase in the amount of corporate profiles on social media means it's getting more and more difficult for businesses to be heard by their audiences. However there are a select number of businesses who execute their social media strategy perfectly, providing creative, engaging content which appeals to their fan base and at the same time spreads their corporate message throughout their target market.

At Traffika, we want to acknowledge the time and effort these businesses put into their social media profiles, so each week we'll be giving out the Traffika Thumbs Up Award, where we'll take a look around the social web and present the most innovative, thought-leading campaigns in this blog. So let's get started!

This week's Thumbs Up award goes to Air Asia Australia and their increasingly popular facebook page. The campaign has only being active for a few weeks but their fan numbers have already skyrocketed to nearly 3,000.

What We Like

The one element Air Asia has executed perfectly is getting fans to like, comment and share as much of the content as possible.

Getting fans to engage with the status and share the competition with their friends not only drives the page's engagement through the roof, but gets them coming back to the page regularly to see the comments of others and interact more with the page.

Why It Works

Commenting on a page or liking a post is a personal investment, it takes time out of people's day, and so it makes sense that people will come back to the page to see what returns they are getting from their contribution.

Ideas You Can Use
Encourage fans to interact with your page as much as possible, and don't be afraid to be specific. Tell them to 'like' something, indicate what you want in the comments, and ask questions. Over time your content will spread further and further through the news feeds of your fans, enhancing the viral effect of social media.

Air Asia has utilised the facebook platform extremely well to create a fun, active community around their brand by encouraging user interaction. As a result, we're happy to award them the first ever Traffika Thumbs Up Award. Well done guys!
